The IQ-Glass radiant heat system consists in double glazing with an air space, connected to an electric installation by way of a conductor hidden in the window frame. The typical glazing composition consists of two tempered lights of 6 and 4 mm, although the thickness depends on the dimension of the opening and its orientation. The glass surfaces facing the interior of the airspace (surfaces 2 and 3) are covered with a metal oxide film. On the interior light, the film acts as a resistance which generates heat, and in the exterior light acts to reflect the heat which would otherwise dissipate. The 13 mm air space is filled with inert, krypton gas, which aids in the thermal insulation of the system, with K values close to 0 when functioning, and 0.98 when turned off, compared with 3 W/m² K of a normal double glazing.
The heat which is produced is similar to that generated by the solar radiation which penetrates the window. Normal functioning temperature is between 16-18°, with a maximum of 35°. Produces no condensations, even in humid rooms.
There exists no risk of electrocution -the entire electrical system is protected and hidden-, or burns -the maximum temperature of the glass is only 35°C-.
The system can be incorporated into all types of window framing systems up to a maximum dimension of 3632x2032 mm.
