This glass provides protection against X-ray and gamma radiation, and is used in the fields of medicine and technical research.
It has an elevated heavy metal oxide content with a high refractive index and good light transmission, insuring optimal transparency. There are two available models:
-RD 30: 23% of its weight corresponds to heavy metal oxides. Available in 6 mm thick sheets with maximum dimensions of 2350 x 1650 mm. It provides the same or better protection than a 0.5 mm lead sheet.  It permits 90.5% light transmission and has a sound reduction index of Rw (C;Ctr) = 34 (-2;-2) dB.
-RD 50: 70% of its weight corresponds to heavy metal oxides. Available in various depths from 4 to 20 mm, with maximum dimensions of  2000 x 1000 mm (for depths up to 11.5 mm) and 1500 x 800 mm for greater depths. This glass provides better radiation protection than the previous model, making it suitable for use in locations with more exacting requirements. The protection level can equal that of a 5.8 mm lead sheet, depending on the thickness selected. 8 mm glass can achieve a sound reduction index of Rw (C;Ctr) = 41 (-3;-3) dB. Light transmission in this case would be 85 % for 5 mm thick glass.
