Progressively intumescent fire resistant coating, which means that upon contact with fire the material reacts by expanding and forming a multi-cellular insulation which protects the steel from the heat of the fire. Since the expansion is gradual, it retards the destructive action of the fire on the construction elements (B,s2,d0, up to R 120). This protective covering, once charred, neither produces or spreads flames.
The product comes in white or gray paint which is applied –using brush, roller or spray gun– over a fire-proofing primer (HK-2-E or ST 28). Dry to the touch in two hours and a second coat can be applied after 24 hours. It should be applied outdoors or in a well-ventilated space, with adequate environmental conditions: never with temperatures less than 10°C or humidity higher than 80%, and, when used on exterior structures, it should be protected with a fire-proof coating (B,s1,d0), Rexmalt, highly resistant to corrosion and available in a wide range of colors.
Its application does not increase structural loads, as it is a lightweight product. Standard colors are white and gray.
