The Velux Sun Tunnel is a system that makes it possible to let natural sunlight into closed interior spaces. The light that falls onto the roof is transmitted inside through a shaft with a highly reflective inner surface, and is then dispersed around the space.
The system is composed of an oculus, a duct and an interior diffuser. The oculus and its accessories vary depending on its installation on a flat or pitched roof.
Pitched Roof: the oculus is formed by an air tight rim set around a polyurethane frame with 4 mm thick tempered glass glazing.
Flat Roof: the oculus is formed by a PVC frame that contains a transparent acrylic dome and a set of highly reflective mirrors.
The Sun Tunnel’s duct is available in two variations: rigid or flexible.
Rigid duct: composed of two 62 cm long telescopic tubes and two 26 cm long pipe elbows, made out of aluminium with a reflective coat. Straight extensions can be added to these pieces to increase the duct’s length to a maximum of 6 m. 
Flexible duct: composed of a 2 m long tube made out of reflective metalized polyester.
The system can be completed with different accessories: 64 and 124 cm long lengthening tubes, a ventilation adapter, a 4W LED lighting kit, which turns the Sun Tunnel into a light fixture at night, and an insulating diffuser kit that reduces thermal transmittance (U) from 2.9 W/m²K to 1.8 W/m²K.
