Tensotherm™ is a translucent insulating membrane. It is composed of an exterior structural membrane of fibreglass coated with PTFE, a lower membrane of fibreglass with PTFE, and an insulating core consisting of a translucent blanket embedded in a silica aerogel (Nanogel –Cabot Rheinfelden–), which both thermally insulates and transmits light. The upper fabric is furnished with a photocatalytic finish of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) that helps keep its surface clean. The lower fabric can be acoustic or with a vapor barrier. Membranes provide different values for thermal insulation, light transmission and climate control depending on the thickness of the aerogel core –from 8 to 64 mm, and up to 100 mm by special order– and the bottom layer of fabric – either acoustic or with a vapor barrier.
