In the laser cleaning process, the luminous beam emitted from the laser source is absorbed by the layer of dirt, producing a surface superficial magnetic resonance phenomenon that loosens the blackened residue on the stone, leaving the surface and patina unchanged. The use of laser equipment in cleaning tasks has increased in the past few years due to its advantages over traditional restoration methods involving mechanical and chemical surface interventions. Laser pumped by diodes, instead of a light source, reduce its size, weight and warm-up time. The possibility to regulate the repetition frequency allows the restorer to clean quickly and selectively. All parameters are easily regulated from the control panel. The beam is directed using fiber optics and the working terminal is a pointer. The apparatus is controlled with a foot pedal.
